A WHOLE LOTTA FUN FOR KIDS!
Calling kids of all ages. The fun is non-stop from morning ‘til night at the Fair.

AMUSEMENTS OF AMERICA
The fabulous midway full of rides offers daily pay-one-price discounts. From the thrill of the Zipper and the fun of the Dragon to those classics – a big Ferris Wheel and a Merry-Go-Round – there are rides for all tastes.

Youth Day on Thursday, August 28 is chock full of special entertainment. Just check out the line-up below. And remember, today only admission is free for everyone under 18 years old until 4 p.m., with $15 ride passes from noon ‘til closing. Children 12 and under are admitted free every day.

Plus there’s lots of cool, ongoing activities and special events throughout all six days at the Fair. See ya there!

TWO BY TWO ZOO
Daily
For kids, the new petting zoo, Two-by-Two, gives them a chance to get up close and personal with kangaroos, ring-tailed lemurs, leopards and bears. And, OH MY! A python! If your kids are a bit timid, there are three animal shows daily when no touching is required.

When was the last time you saw a ring-tailed lemur? Or an albino Burmese python? Has it been a while? Then stop by and check out the Two-by-Two Zoo.

“We do three shows a day,” says co-owner Heather Iannuci. “During that time, we talk about conservation and describe the natural habitat of some of the animals. They are all on display the entire day and we try to recreate the environment where they would live naturally. They are not trained to do tricks. Rather, we call our zoo ‘edutainment.’”

But that doesn’t mean it’s not fun. Kids can pet giant tortoises, hold tiny snakes, and feel the fur of one of the three kangaroos (including one still in its mother’s pouch!). An adjacent pen full of goats and sheep is the perfect place for younger children to get their fix of the traditional petting zoo.

So if you’ve forgotten what Asian leopards look like, if the image of a lemur is a bit fuzzy in your mind, of if you can’t tell a red kangaroo from a grey one, make sure to take in the Two-by-Two Zoo.

OPEN HORSE SHOW
Monday, 9 am to 3 pm
Calling all equestrians –– get ready to ride tall during the Open Horse Show on Monday! Riders of both English and Western disciplines, juniors (age 18 and under) and adults are invited to participate in more than three dozen classes in this popular event, held at the horse show ring at the south end of the fairgrounds. Geared for fun and skill, the classes give riders of all levels the opportunity to participate –– from youngsters riding a horse led by an adult to advanced riders. Jog and lope for Western classes are matched by trot and cantor for English classes, plus all will enjoy the sheer merriment of The Egg and Spoon contest and the “Sit a Buck.” Organized by equestrian Jennifer Lawrence, the Open Horse Show is detailed in the Fair’s Premium List book, available at this website on the Competitions and Exhibits page. You can also pick one up, free of charge, at local Agway stores and Chatham branches of Fleet Bank and National Union Bank.
